menstruation and what you can't do, you won't believe it, opinions may differ. The fact is that

menstruation is not a disease, but an absolutely normal physiological process that occurs

cyclically in the body of a healthy woman. Therefore, you should not create any special

conditions for this period and limit yourself in anything.


But there is one nuance! We are all different. Each woman's body is unique, so any case should be considered individually. 



1: During menstruation you can not do sports


- It is possible and even necessary! The only question is what kind. Pulling iron in the gym, do heavy exercises and freeze in planks I do not recommend. It is better to temporarily switch to yoga or Pilates - any calm sports that involve primarily stretching. It reduces congestion that occurs in the pelvic organs and causes discomfort during menstruation.


The pain that a woman feels during menstruation comes from the tension of the ligamentous apparatus of the uterus, because it is trying to push out the blood. If you help the uterus, it will only be grateful to you. But lying on the couch, on the contrary, is harmful. Although it is very desirable.

I know that many people are afraid of exercises that involve head-down postures. If they are short-term, there is nothing wrong with it. But it is better to refrain from prolonged stay in the inverted position. 


Women with very heavy or painful periods should consult a gynecologist. Most likely, in this situation, at least the first couple of days of sports will have to give up at all.


2. You can not take a bath


- Taking a bath is difficult to call a useful procedure for the body in principle. The only plus - a person relaxes and can somehow affect the skin with various herbs or sea salt, sometimes it also helps in the restoration of the muscular apparatus. However, during menstruation, at least for a couple of days, forget about this procedure, it is better to take a shower.

Categorically forbid bathing I can not. And if a woman really likes to do it and knows that her body calmly tolerates the procedure, then for her such actions are permissible. But still, reassurance has never prevented anyone.








3. You can not visit a sauna


- The answer is the same. There is nothing good in it. If in the bath the body is not completely overheated, then in a bath or sauna the temperature affects the whole body, because even the air here is very warm.


Normally, during menstruation, a woman loses a glass of blood. The body prepares for this in advance: the day before retains fluid, we swell a little, slightly gain weight, but the more blood we lose, the less we have red blood cells, so the stuffiness and high temperature can even cause loss of consciousness.


I do not argue, some ladies health allows you to bear and not such overload. And yet, if you have decided, then try to organize bathing trips not in the first days of menstruation.


 

4. You can not swim



- If you are not an Olympic champion and there is no urgent need to compete in competitions, I advise you to be patient at least a couple of days. With scanty discharge, the use of a tampon and its mandatory replacement after leaving the water, of course, you can swim in the pool, but is it necessary? 


As for, for example, the sea, there is a high probability of infection in the open cervix. Of course, sea water is useful, there is even a procedure of irrigation of the vagina with sea water for therapeutic purposes. But is there a guarantee that where you decide to swim, the water is unconditionally clean?


Be sure to follow the rules of hygiene and try to minimize the time spent on the beach. After all, sunbathing during this period is also bad for your health. Take an umbrella with you.



5. You can not have sex



- Let's think about what is attractive? Moisturization of the vagina and its swelling. Because it becomes narrower, a man can get more satisfaction from intimacy. For this reason, some couples look forward to the onset of the woman's menstruation every time.

What stops it? Getting an infection and damaging the uterus, which is particularly sensitive during this period.








6. You can not sit on the cold and catch a cold



- This rule should be adhered to not only during periods, but in general always. It is especially important to convey it to teenagers.


Overcooling of the pelvic organs leads to various inflammations, decreased immunity and becomes a trigger for the development of infections. At a young age, the problems are usually not noticeable, but they can auction many, many years later. That is why it is so important to love and take care of yourself always.



7. You can not follow a strict diet

On the eve of menstruation, women start to want something special (salty, sweet, spicy - it's different for everyone). This happens because of changes in the hormonal background. And it is useless to fight with your desires. It is easier to open the refrigerator, take out, for example, a can of sprats, which you dreamed of so much, and eat with pleasure a couple of sandwiches with fish, than to suffer all day and eventually get up at night, because the body will still win!


If you crave a chocolate bar so badly, then it contains what you need. Of course, in everything it is important to measure, but there is no need to torture yourself.     



8. You should not drink alcoholic beverages


- Alcohol retains fluid in the body, dilates blood vessels and can increase pain sensations. Allow yourself a glass of wine? Why not. But no more. By the way, pay attention to red wine. Some patients I even recommend it in small quantities.


Red wine improves erythropoiesis (one of the varieties of hematopoiesis (hematopoiesis), during which red blood cells (red blood cells) are formed. Sometimes this drink is also indicated for people who are weakened in the course of a serious illness.



9. It is not allowed to do surgeries and take tests



- Yes, it is true. During menstruation, on the one hand, there is increased bleeding throughout the body, on the other hand, the risk of thrombosis also increases. Therefore, surgical intervention tries to postpone.


Tests in this period often "lie". Urine analysis can be inaccurate, in the general blood test can sharply increase the level of COE, and other errors are not excluded. If the situation is not an emergency, it is better to wait at least 7 days after the end of menstruation. Then the result will be correct.



10. You can not abuse painkillers



- It is not necessary to tolerate pain. If it bothers the first couple of days, it is not terrible. But if it follows for a long time, then it is necessary to undergo an examination and identify the cause

Every woman has her own remedy that helps her to get through menstruation easier. I can not say that some drug is better and some is worse, because the question is really individual. Making yourself suffer is wrong, but you can't swallow analgesics by the handful either. Be sure to see a doctor who will help you deal with the problem.
